Pupil Premium

At Henry Chadwick we know that all children have the right to the best education and therefore we target the use of Pupil Premium Grant funding to ensure that our disadvantaged pupils receive the highest quality of education and experiences so that they can ‘Learn to Live’.

What is Pupil Premium?

For every pupil registered with us as eligible under the entitlement criteria, the school will receive extra funding. This is called Pupil Premium. It is used to help raise achievement levels.

Each school decides how to spend the funding. They must publish details of what they have spent it on and the impact it has had.

So that schools (and pupils) can continue to benefit from this extra funding it is important that parents who do meet the entitlement criteria continue to register their claim with us.

The following groups are eligible for pupil premium:

  • Pupils who are recorded as eligible for free school meals, or have been recorded as eligible in the past 6 years, including eligible children of families who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF)
  • Children looked after by local authorities, referred to as looked-after children
  • Children previously looked after by a local authority or other state care, referred to as previously looked-after children

Am I eligible? To find out whether your child qualifies for free school meals, and whether our school would receive additional funding, please use this web link: www.staffordshire.gov.uk/FreeSchoolMeals/Apply-online

Free School Meals

Parents with children who attend a school in Staffordshire, and are claiming some benefits can claim Free School Meals for their children (at any age). School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime, and you can save yourself time and money.

Even if you don’t want your children to have the meals, claiming Free School Meals helps our school. The more eligible parents who claim Free School Meals, the more funding the school receives.  If a child is in receipt of Free School Meals we can also support with the cost of additional provision such as educational trips.

Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) for reception, year 1 and 2 children

All children in reception, year 1 or year 2 receive free school meals even if you don’t meet the entitlement criteria previously applied for free school meals, and without completing an application for them – for more information contact your school.

However, for every pupil registered with the Council as eligible under the entitlement criteria for Free School Meals, the school will receive additional funding called Pupil Premium – this funding is used to help raise achievement levels and is of real benefit to the children and the school. For more information about how we use to Pupil Premium funding, click here. So that schools (and pupils) can continue to benefit from this extra funding it is important that parents who do meet the entitlement criteria for Free School Meals continue to register their claim with the Council.
